Those who teach shall also learn and those who learn shall also teach”      a founder Peter Haslett

Are you in need of mental stimulation
Want to have fun and keep the grey matter working?  Answer = U3A

We are a society of retired or near-retired people
(in the Third Age) who want to make new friends,
keep our minds active and have fun.

The skills and knowledge from our members’
“previous lives” are a precious resource for the group.

The ancient meaning of ‘University’
was a group of people gathered together
to learn more about their chosen topics of interest.
This is the model which we espouse.
Unlike modern universities, there are no exams
and no formal lectures.

We are all, at different times, teachers and learners
within our chosen topics of interest.

This active participation is our unique feature and a requirement of membership.

2014 we celebrate U3A 25 years in New Zealand
